Blogs:
......................................................................................................................

Blogs like XtreamSurf Blog are PERMISSION based venues which can be used as internet advertising specialties for marketing online. Blog means (We)B log. It is an online journal that is typically very easy to set up and use. Blogs use articles aka CONTENT. Search Engines love content and this makes setting up and using a Blog to promote your business, products and services a good marketing strategy. People set Blogs up for many reasons. Companies use them to provide information about the company itself and sometimes will use a Blog for their employees.

Whatever the purpose of your Blog, you as an owner, have full control over and are responsible for the content of your site. People must have your permission to post articles and comments. You control who can post articles by inviting a person to join. Once joined, a person can post. You also can control who posts to your comments. There have been situations over the past couple years where technology made it possible for people to 'mass auto-post' to comments. This resulted in Blogs being spammed. You, as the Blog owner, can manage the Comments section and even turn it off completely if you want.

There were also some Blog Networks set up in 2005 as Marketing Blogs. These Blogs had a remote post function which allowed for a type of submitter to 'mass auto-post' articles to the Blogs themselves. What many blog owners of these venues where finding was that their Blog was being spammed and receiving articles which had nothing what-so-ever to do with their Blog. Pornographers had a field day with those Blogs especially. So, many of the owners turned that feature off.

Blog providers consider you responsible for content and how that content appears on your Blog. Some blogs - like the Google Blogger - uses turing codes. You can ask for that to be turned off, however, should something happen and Blogger decides you are spamming, you can lose your blog.

There are many free Blog services on the Net. Google Blogger.com is one of the most widely known of the free blogs. WordPress is usually found in cpanel backoffices and is attached to most Pixel Page venues. Once you set up a blog, you then write and post your articles. It is recommended you post weekly to keep your Blog current. Each time you post an article, add a link and etc, that shakes the Net which in turn stirs the Search Engine Spiders.

All blogs utilize a service called an RSS feed. RSS stands for Real Syndication Service. Once you post an article and activate - or ping - the RSS, your work is then broadcast through the feed which is in turn passed on to those who subscribe to the Service. It functions somewhat similar to News Syndication Services aka Wire Services which  publications like newspapers or News organizations like radio and

Set up a Blogger.com site

To begin the process first join Blogger.com, create your account, choose a name for your blog and the wizard takes you through the process. Main elements where you have decisions to make are:

* SETTINGS:

1. Title: The wizard will tell you if the name you choose is not available.

2.  Description: Think keywords in your description. This is oftentimes where the SE will pick up that information.

3. Add your Blog to listings? Drop down box yes or no

4. Show Email Post links? Drop down box yes or no

5. Global Settings? Drop down box yes or no

Save Settings

* TEMPLATE:
This is where you choose the look and style of your Blog. Some of the Templates have the places to put links built into the template. After you choose your Template you can then go back and add/edit links.

* The html to include links looks like this:
<li><a href="http://yourlink.com">Your text here like Cashflowpc - Cashflowpc has great work at home businesses</a></li>

Generally people put links in their side bar below the Profile box.

The Template area is where you can add G/Adsense. Add with caution. Note that anytime you make changes to your Template you must Save and then Republish.

Once you have made your basic decisions and your Blog is published, you can add content easily and also manage your Blog with the various tools in the top menu. You have 4 main areas:

1. Posting
4 settings allow you to Post, Edit, Moderate, and view your Status

2. Settings
8 settings - note this is where you can invite members to join your Blog to post (Members). Also Site Feed shows you your atom.xml and also is the place to set the Publish Feed on or off.

3. Template
3 settings. This is where you edit links, add links and etc.

4. View Blog

If you are good with html, you can dress your blog up with visuals. Some people are quite creative when it comes to the look of their Blog. However, whether all dressed up or plain Jane, the CONTENT is what counts. Keep it fresh and updated to keep those Bots coming back to your sites and your articles out on the Feeds.

Blogs Inform!

Blogs are wonderful mediums because you can use them to INFORM people about your business, products, etc. You can write actual articles which are then broadcast through the RSS feed.

For example, say you are selling the Ethos FR product. Once you use the product you can post your personal testimonial on your blog. As other people give you their testimonials - post them as well. You can explain how, as well as why, the product works in articles. All that is CONTENT - which the SE's love to see.
television services subscribe to.They receive news and articles over the "Wire" which they then include in their own publications or broadcasts.

Some blogs like blogger.com have an auto ping. Others may need to be set up and then pinged manually each time you post an article.

Another aspect of a Blog is that you can add your links to it. This is very useful in your Search Engine marketing. If you keep your Blog current, that will keep the SE Bots coming back to your site, which will in turn get your links recorded (again) in the Engines, which helps boost your popularity and then your standings in the Engines.

You can also MONETIZE your sites. You can charge people a fee to link to your site if you want. One of the easiest ways to monetize is by setting up the Google/Adsense links. However, word of caution on that: you cannot market your Blogs in traffic exchanges, paid-to-click venues and etc if you put G/A on your site.
