Just as there are many ways to market your business offline, online there are thousands, if not millions of places to do so as well. You want to use as many avenues as you can to expose your business to as many people as possible.  The venues you will be using fall into two major catagories:

* Email Marketing
Email marketing involves sending your ads to readers. The rules of Email Marketing are such that you can only send your ads to those who request them. There are many "opt-in" venues that you join and which then allow you to send your Email ads to the members of those sites. Safelists and Safeadlists are examples of opt-in email or email style marketing venues.

Email marketing can be quite effective - if done properly. Success depends mostly on your Subject Line and then ad content. The goal is to first get the reader to open your email, then to your Site for more information and the encouragement to buy, or sign up for Vocalixdirect.

* Link or Search Engine Marketing          
Link marketing involves activities or using Venues which BOOST your websites ranking in the Search Engines. Traffic exchanges, posting to FFA pages, and adding your links to permanent link boards like a pixel page are all examples of specialized venues which either creates hits or help boost your popularity with the Engines.

Link marketing is a very important part of your advertising as many consumer studies show that upwards to 80% of all online sales and sign ups actually come as the result of a keyword search. A high ranking in the major engines - Google, MSN and Yahoo especially - can be crucial to the overall success of your business.

Each type of marketing requires it's own unique tools. For example, posting your link to ffa sites is not the same as sending email to people. Posting to ffa sites helps improve your overall popularity with the engines. People may, or may not see your ads. Sending email to people can produce sales and signups, it will not help your Search Engine ranking in any significant way. You need both types of venues, both types of advertising.

Link Marketing

Link marketing involves marketing to the Search Engines. Studies show that up to 80% of all online sales or sign ups come from a result of a keyword search in the Search Engines.

There are two (2) major ways to Link market your sites:

1. Through 'link' posts to boards. This helps your 'popularity.' The Search Engines are constantly reviewing sites for their databases. The more sites YOUR url shows up on the more 'popular' the Engines perceive your site to be. FFA, Classified ad boards, permanent link boards, pixal pages, blog links, and  linking to other websites all are great ways to boost your popularity with the Engines.

2. By driving traffic to your sites. The more hits - or visitors to your site - also called  'traffic', the higher your ranking at the Engines. Traffic can be 'people' or the Search Engines themselves. Traffic Exchanges, Click for view sites, Alexa Rank Enhancer are among the best way to accomplish this. These venues rotate your site and create hits.


Email Marketing

This is where you send your ads to people in an email.  The main objective is to get the READER to take ACTION to go to your website and sign up for more information, the program itself or purchase product.

There are many rules and agencies which regulate this kind of marketing.  A major 'Rule' is that you can ONLY send your ad to people who AGREE to receive your ads. This is generally referred to as "OPT-IN".  Anytime you send an email ad to ANYONE, including your contacts, without their express permission to do so is considered SPAM.

If  you are accused of SPAM EVERYONE associated with that email comes under scrutiny - you, your ISP, your mail service,  website  servers, even the company or program you are promoting. 

Because of all this it is very important that you ONLY send your email ads out through approved, OPT-IN programs using the mailers provided with those venues.

There are lots of ways to market...

It takes many tools in your toolbox to create a viable marketing portfolio. It takes many parts to make a car and many things to make a car run. With the exception of Search Engine Marketing, the effectiveness of tools, resources, sites, etc is very subjective and depends on many factors. This is especially true in your Email Marketing as you are advertising to PEOPLE and you never know when a person is going to respond to your email or your ad.

The purpose of RC is to introduce the tools and resources, then train you on how to use them effectively. We are not here to discuss the effectiveness of the tools in your personal business as that is too subjective to address. We encourage you to use all the resources that are available to you as your individual time permits. As you use the resources presented here at RC, only you can determine the effectiveness in your personal business. Your results may not be the same as someone else's results. Key to all this is persistance, time, patience and effort.
